Whilst many women START their fitness journey to lose weight and improve how they look... often it's the wider benefits that keep us coming back.
Unfortunately many women neglect strength training as part of their exercise regime for:

● fear that it will make them "bulky"
● fear that it is dangerous and will cause them injury
● simple dislike of a "boring" style of exercise
So, let's dispel some myths!
1️⃣ building "bulky" muscles is only possible when following a dedicated strength training programme, lifting heavy weights and eating a diet high in protein. As women, we are not predisposed to muscle building due to our lower testosterone levels
2️⃣ whilst picking up weights may seem a scary prospect, the dangers of NOT lifting weights far outweigh any dangers of resistance training for most people. Avoiding resistance training can:
- increase risk of back, neck & joint pain
- decrease joint stability, potentially leading to pain or injury
- decrease bone density leading to increased risk of fractures, breaks & osteoporosis
3️⃣ at SLIIK©️ we grab our dumbbells and move to the music to make resistance training fun... as part of our signature class format, we weave resistance training, dance and mobility together in a fun class to bulletproof your body for whatever life throws your way
